We're headquartered in Milan, Italy, where you'll find most of our employees, but the teams you'll work with are across Europe.

About the Role

We're seeking a highly energetic and motivational Head of Engineering (Leading Team Leaders) who can look for win-win opportunities with an outcome-driven mindset. This person should understand that outputs are simply a means to an end.

We're constantly striving to be data-driven, measuring everything to gain insights that help us continuously improve. We do this in a Lean way, using Kanban to represent our workflow while applying Scrum as an agile framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • You'll be the servant leader of 3-5 cross-functional teams, empowering, challenging, and giving them constructive feedback to help them become high-performing teams.
  • You'll collaborate with Product Owners and Engineering Teams to build and execute roadmaps, making explicit the technical constraints that can affect delivery time and prioritization during scope definition.
  • You'll liaise with architects and other senior engineers to remove blockers limiting our capacity to get things done.
  • You'll engage different stakeholders and managers to fill the communication gap and reduce friction, providing reports and insights supported by Agile/Lean metrics.
  • You'll support career progression, providing mentoring, coaching, and training, and identifying next-generation leaders.

Requirements

  • You'll have a solid software engineering background, knowledge of modern frameworks, architectural principles, and testing methodologies.
  • You'll have experience leading SaaS technology organizations in fast-paced environments, serving hundreds of customers, and growing rapidly.
  • You'll have a proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful project throughout its lifecycle, including crisis management, out-of-the-box thinking, and results-driven business.
  • You'll have examples of inheriting and building software engineering teams, growing, and optimizing them.
  • You'll have a deep understanding of Agile methodologies, such as XP/Scrum and Lean practices like Kanban/Kaizen.
  • You'll have experience working in an environment that promotes a DevOps mindset, Continuous Integration, and Delivery.
  • You'll be able to explain technical approaches to non-technical people.
  • You'll have experience in re-architecting processes or building new architectures from scratch.
