Packaging Machine Operator Job Summary

Ferrara Candy Company is seeking a skilled Packaging Machine Operator to join our team in DeKalb. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various machines to ensure efficient production.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Set up and operate packaging machines to meet production requirements
  2. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime
  3. Ensure packaging materials meet quality standards and replenish supplies as needed
  4. Feed product to conveyors, hoppers, scales, or other feeding devices
  5. Operate touch screens to program code dates, product weights, and other relevant product data
  6. Conduct quality checks at regular intervals and remove rejected product as instructed
  7. Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues with equipment at the entry maintenance mechanic level
  8. Work closely with maintenance when escalation to maintenance support is needed
Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year experience operating packaging machinery and/or working in food manufacturing
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months' related experience and/or training
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions
