Technical Manager Job Description

The Technical Manager is a senior technical role responsible for the successful delivery of implementation projects using InterSystems' implementation methodology. This position provides dynamic leadership to all technical implementation activities, ensuring that projects are completed on schedule and to the required quality standards.

The Technical Manager coordinates and oversees technical input to proposals, works collaboratively with Implementation Program Management, Product Management, and Development Teams to ensure successful project delivery, and provides technical oversight across all delivery engagements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership to the Implementation Team, ensuring that staff are equipped to deliver high-quality projects.
  • Work collaboratively with Program and Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery, providing technical input and guidance as needed.
  • Provide technical oversight across all delivery engagements, ensuring adherence to promised timelines, budgetary costs, and quality standards.
  • Manage and plan future resource requirements, ensuring that the right technical resources are allocated at the right time.
  • Work with the Implementation Director to manage implementation partner relationships, providing technical input and guidance as needed.
  • Lead, document, and estimate technical input to bids, ensuring that proposals are achievable from a technical perspective.
  • Participate in the commercial process, providing work estimates and inputting to implementation Statements of Work.
  • Be the escalation point for customer and partner issues, working to quickly resolve any issues or obstacles.
  • Communicate with clients and sales staff to identify business needs, inputting into proposals to demonstrate the business benefits of proposed technology solutions.
  • Stay engaged throughout the project lifecycle, reviewing progress against documented solutions and timelines.
  • Participate in client and InterSystems Steering Committee meetings as required.
  • Provide advice and best practices to clients on technical areas related to custom developments, interfaces, reports, extracts, and data manipulation routines.
  • Produce collateral such as white papers or case studies.
  • Stay up-to-date with InterSystems products and Healthcare and IT industry developments, undertaking relevant self-development or training.
Requirements:
  • At least 10 years of experience in enterprise software development, design, and delivery.
  • Strong technical competence across a broad range of technology components, including infrastructure, integration, databases, and software development.
  • Previous experience dealing with complex application deployments.
  • Experience managing technical staff at all levels.
  • Extensive customer-facing experience in both pre- and post-sale contexts.
  • Self-starter qualities to rapidly come up to speed with InterSystems products.
  • Familiarity with Project and Program delivery.
  • Experience working with InterSystems technologies is desirable.
  • Experience delivering applications to the Healthcare sector is desirable.
  • Fluent English and Italian.
