Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated individual to contribute to our research on social cognition within the realm of human-robot interaction. This role is essential in advancing our understanding of how humans and robots can effectively communicate and collaborate.

Project Focus

The successful candidate will engage in a project centered on social cognition in human-robot interaction, utilizing cutting-edge methodologies to explore the dynamics of these interactions.

Team Environment

You will be part of a diverse and interdisciplinary team at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), working under the guidance of experienced researchers. Our team is dedicated to studying the cognitive processes that occur during interactions with humanoid robots, specifically the iCub robot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing software solutions to facilitate experiments in human-robot interaction.
  • Assisting in the management and upkeep of laboratory equipment.
  • Supporting researchers in their scientific endeavors.

Essential Qualifications

  • A master's degree in software engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proficient programming skills in C++ and Python, including experience with multi-threading and network programming.
  • Familiarity with GNU/Linux operating systems.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural research environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with robotics middleware such as ROS or YARP.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques.
  • Familiarity with EEG/EMG, BCI, or eye-tracking technologies.
  • Experience in full-stack web development.
