Your Role
As part of the Social Cognition in Human-Robot Interaction (S4HRI) Research Line, you will be joining a diverse and interdisciplinary team led by Prof. Agnieszka Wykowska. Our research line investigates the cognitive mechanisms involved in interactions with humanoid robots, particularly the iCub robot. Utilizing objective cognitive neuroscience methods such as EEG and eye tracking, we analyze human-robot interactions. Additionally, you will participate in the VALAWAI (VALue-Aware-AI) project, a collaborative initiative funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe framework, which explores the mechanisms that could enable artificial agents to possess awareness of implicit values.
Main Responsibilities
- Developing software solutions to facilitate experiments in human-robot interaction.
- Assisting in the management and upkeep of laboratory equipment.
- Supporting researchers in their scientific endeavors.
Essential Qualifications
- A master's degree in software engineering or a related discipline.
- Proficient programming skills in C++ and Python, including multi-threading, inter-process communication, and network programming.
- Fluency in using GNU/Linux operating systems.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary international research team.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with robotics middleware such as ROS or YARP.
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning methodologies.
- Experience with EEG/EMG, BCI, or eye-tracking technologies.
- Background in full-stack web development.
