The Maritime Area Iberia, Italy encompasses all maritime operational functions and is structured around two primary Service Lines: Newbuilding and Certification/Verification of Materials and Components (NB&CMC). The Fleet in Service (FiS) is integrated within the business Unit FiS West Europe.
We are seeking a qualified Surveyor to become a part of our NB&CMC team in Italy, reporting directly to the local line manager.
Our clientele demands a comprehensive array of certification services, which include materials and welding procedures, as well as pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, gears, thrusters, electrical installations, automation systems, lifting appliances, and intricate offshore packages. The classification of large and complex vessels, from the design phase through to final delivery, is integral to our service offerings.
Building on this traditional foundation, we have embarked on a journey towards embracing advanced future technologies, such as fuel cells, innovative turbine designs, cutting-edge electrical drives, and lithium batteries for marine propulsion.
Our goal is to lead in innovation, digital transformation, and customer focus. In alignment with this vision, we continuously evaluate and implement new methodologies across various disciplines. Recent initiatives include electronic certifications, remote inspections, additive manufacturing, sensor-based maintenance, alternative fuels, and autonomous vessels. Addressing customer needs and minimizing carbon footprints are paramount in our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Certification and verification of materials and components under class and non-class related systems and processes. Manage a portfolio of clients and collaborate with colleagues globally to address their requirements. Serve as an advisor to clients, guiding them through the regulatory landscape of the maritime sector and supporting their development. Conduct newbuilding surveys on passenger vessels in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. Ensure the seamless execution of projects in partnership with the project manager and their onsite team. Carry out all activities safely, prioritizing your own safety and that of others. Collaborate with a highly motivated team in an environment where trust, teamwork, and innovation are core values. Position Qualifications:
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in marine, mechanical, or electrical engineering (or other relevant fields). Minimum of 5 years of experience in the maritime industry. Knowledge and expertise in electrical and control & monitoring systems will be advantageous. Proficiency in written and spoken business-standard English is essential. A valid driver's license is required. Willingness to travel frequently within the country and occasionally within the Area/Region is essential.
