Job Summary:

The Cafeteria Specialist is a vital member of the Natrona County School food service team. This role requires a strong individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment to prepare and serve food items to students and school personnel while maintaining a safe and sanitary food service facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up food items, supplies, serving lines, and equipment to ensure that food is provided in accordance with cafeteria requirements.
  • Clean utensils, equipment, and food preparation and serving areas to maintain sanitary conditions.
  • Collect payments for food items from students and staff.
  • Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature to ensure it meets standards.
  • Inspect food items and supplies to verify quantity and specifications of orders and comply with health standards.
  • Maintain records and reports as required to provide historical documentation and meet local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality on personnel and student issues.
  • Monitor students' food choices to meet mandated requirements and ensure adequate nutrition.
  • Oversee inventory of food, condiments, and supplies to ensure availability of items according to schedule.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverage items according to approved recipes to meet nutritional and health requirements.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to maintain equipment in safe working order.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, staff, and parents to provide information and direction regarding meals.
  • Serve food to meet mandated nutritional requirements and requests of students and school personnel.
  • Stock food, condiments, and supplies to maintain adequate quantities and security of items.
  • Supervise assistants to maintain a quality workforce and ensure safe practices are followed.
  • Verify quantity and quality of food prepared to maintain accurate records and ensure students receive the proper amount of food.

Requirements:

  • High school graduation or GED
  • Food Handlers/Serv Safe Certification by NRA within one year of hire

Working Conditions:

The Cafeteria Specialist will work in a school food service environment with moderate physical demands. The individual must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment and supplies as needed.
