Position Overview

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures that merchandise is fresh, rotated, and presented according to the designated layout. Delivers outstanding customer service on the sales floor by welcoming, acknowledging, and responding to customer needs. Aids in unloading merchandise from pallets and organizes the storage area. Guarantees proper display of items on shelves and in display cases. Monitors sales floor conditions and takes corrective actions where necessary. Maintains appropriate stock levels and ensures accurate pricing on items received and sold. Collaborates effectively with the Store Director, Grocery Department Manager, and all Grocery team members to uphold standards and exceed customer expectations. Assists customers in locating products on the sales floor and offers product recommendations and alternatives when suitable. Addresses customer inquiries and resolves issues when a customer is dissatisfied with the service or product provided. Contributes to the overall cleanliness of the department by sanitizing, organizing, and maintaining work areas, shelving, and the sales floor as required. Ensures all quality standards are met, including achieving quantity expectations consistently. Regular attendance in accordance with the work schedule, providing adequate notice for any absences. Other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. Comprehensive understanding of all safety protocols and company safety policies, including proper lifting techniques and safety with cutting tools. Proficient in operating equipment such as power jacks, walk-behind lifts, and compactors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

The associate must be able to stand for extended periods; work in a cooler; walk throughout the store; and bend, stoop, and kneel regularly. The associate must have full upper body mobility to lift products and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. Must possess functional sensory abilities to visually monitor the store, create appealing displays, and operate equipment. The position requires the associate to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.

WORK SCHEDULE

The Grocery Associate I is a part-time, hourly position. The work schedule may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
