Job Title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Haptic Perception

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genova, Italy. The successful candidate will work on a research project investigating multisensory perception during development, focusing on haptic perception and its integration with other sensory modalities.

About the Project

The research project aims to investigate the development of multisensory perception in humans, with a focus on haptic perception and its integration with vision and audition. The selected candidate will be responsible for programming haptic devices, designing and running haptic/multisensory psychophysical experiments, and analyzing data.

About the Team

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team composed of neurophysiology experts, technicians, and statisticians. The team is led by Dr. Monica Gori, an expert in psychophysics for multisensory processing.

Requirements
  • PhD in neuroscience, (bio)engineering, neurobiology, (neuro)psychology, or related areas with a strong background/experience in haptics experiments.
  • Knowledge of programming haptic devices/interfaces, creating perceptual experiments, analyzing and possibly modeling data.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: neurophysiology, programming of virtual reality settings, statistics.
  • Experience in programming in languages for haptic interfaces, e.g. MATLAB, Python, C/C++, Python, and possibly Unity.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
