Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Tunnel Design Engineer to join our fast-growing Tunnelling team in Arup's Milan Office. The successful candidate will deliver local and global projects, working directly with clients and other professionals with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of design packages, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines, fostering effective collaboration and communication.
  • Produce project-related correspondence and reports, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Provide design calculations and support the preparation and review of drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage project and team administration duties, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, supplemented by a Master's degree in Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering/Soil Mechanics or Structural Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard software for tunnelling, geotechnical, and structural design.
  • 3-6 years of geotechnical and tunnelling design experience in a consultancy environment.
  • Good experience in numerical analysis, with a strong understanding of engineering principles.
  • Able to demonstrate strong engineering skills and knowledge, with a proven track record of contributing to a team-oriented environment.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, with excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges, with a passion for international working.
  • Fluent in Italian and English.
