About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead Engineer to join our team at HITACHI ENERGY ITALY S.P.A. and support all engineering activities related to the Automation Scope of Medium and High Voltage Substations, including testing and commissioning activities.

Your Responsibilities

As a Technical Lead Engineer, you will drive excellence by ensuring that engineering, testing, and commissioning activities are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with customer expectations, contract specifications, company policies, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as a technical lead and design authority for engineering deliverables across all applicable engineering disciplines;
  • Coordinate all technical activities during the complete project cycle, including testing and commissioning;
  • Work closely with customers to shape and deliver solutions and utilize feedback to drive the delivery of innovative improvements and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction;
  • Work closely with colleagues and engineers across various disciplines, sharing technical knowledge and best practices cross-border within the HUB Europe Region;
  • Prepare base design of substation automation systems, control, and protection. Verify the implemented base design within the detailed design;
  • Take over aspects of the detail design engineering, testing, or commissioning activities in relation to the project needs;
  • Support the Project Manager in costings to submit estimations, issue claims related to changes in project scope, assess cost and time impacts, and risk implications;
  • Provide technical details, financial information, and deliverables for sales proposals;
  • Resolve complex technical issues both remotely and also while in person at domestic and international customer sites;
  • Ensure the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.

Your Background

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical/Electronic/Automation Engineering (or similar);
  • > 5 years' work experience in substation automation projects;
  • Knowledge of Control and Protection relays and solutions for High and Medium Voltage Substations;
  • Knowledge of standard and industrial LAN networks;
  • Knowledge of industrial automation and electrical field (PLC, RTU, SCADA);
  • Fluency in Italian and good knowledge in English (B2);
  • Strong communication skills, proactivity, team working, and problem-solving skills.
