Position Overview

We are seeking a Space Materials and Processes Specialist to contribute to our innovative projects at Albelissa.
In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and manufacturing of equipment and assemblies for space applications.
Your knowledge in materials science, manufacturing techniques, and aerospace technology will be crucial for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our space systems in accordance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • **Material and Component Evaluation**: You will assess and select materials and mechanical components, reviewing engineering designs while considering critical factors such as outgassing, corrosion resistance, radiation tolerance, and thermal conditions. This evaluation will be documented in project deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • **Management of Critical Items**: You will oversee the qualification process for critical items as defined by industry standards.
  • **Approval Processes**: You will facilitate the approval of project materials and components through the customer chain, participating in necessary review boards and managing requests for approval.
  • **Development Harmonization**: You will ensure that new manufacturing and assembly processes align with our established qualification standards and industry regulations.
  • **Project Review Participation**: You will act as a materials and processes expert during project reviews, collaborating with project managers and evaluating supplier submissions against industry requirements.
  • **Risk Management**: You will conduct assessments related to materials and processes, identifying potential risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them in collaboration with project and risk management teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the aerospace sector, focusing on materials and manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of space equipment design, production, and testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with industry regulations governing space equipment.
- Experience in contamination control and cleanliness protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in diverse international teams.
- High motivation, proactive work ethic, and a strong sense of accountability.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Knowledge of Italian is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with environmental and reliability testing for aerospace components.
- Understanding of soldering regulations for electronic parts.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques.
