Position Overview

Amazon is in search of a Corporate Legal Counsel to oversee compliance initiatives throughout Amazon's EU operations. This role will provide guidance to business leaders on intricate matters, including the future organization of the business, facilitating third-party sellers to enhance customer experiences, and executing product compliance alongside other strategic regulations impacting Amazon's platforms.

This attorney will take the lead across various EU regions and Amazon's diverse business lines to identify and advise on new legal requirements, working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders as an integral member of the business decision-making team to devise effective and innovative solutions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Advise on regulatory issues ranging from product compliance to fundamental rights.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish risk assessment frameworks and design scalable mitigation strategies.
  • Engage directly with the business as the primary legal advisor on requirements, risks, and prioritization.
  • Convey strategic implications and recommendations to senior leadership within the business.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will provide legal counsel to the business segment responsible for third-party sellers on Amazon's EU platforms, addressing all legal aspects that influence this sector. The individual selected for this position will play a crucial role in shaping the business's design, assisting selling partners in their growth, and ensuring customer satisfaction remains a priority.

We seek candidates with a robust background in advising corporate clients on regulatory responsibilities, along with extensive and varied experience in providing counsel to commercial and/or retail sector clients. We value innovative, forward-thinking, highly engaged, and customer-centric professionals who are adept at developing creative solutions to complex legal challenges.

This role can be based in Amazon's offices in various EU locations, with some travel expected.


Basic Qualifications
  • Exceptional academic credentials.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of post-qualification legal experience at a law firm and/or a successful transactional background, including significant commercial and/or retail expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-house legal experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with product compliance or online marketplace regulations is beneficial.
  • Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment in uncertain situations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and technological skills.
