About the Role

The United Nations World Food Programme is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Investigations Consultant to join its Office of Inspections and Investigations in Headquarters (HQ). The successful candidate will operate as a team member and report to the Director, Office of Inspections and Investigations or the designate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and assess complaints and allegations of misconduct involving WFP staff, contractors, and other applicable persons.
  • Conduct independent investigations into allegations of violations of applicable rules and regulations.
  • Collect and analyze evidence, conduct interviews, and draft reports on the outcome of the investigation.
  • Review investigation reports for adequacy and sufficiency of the evidence.
  • Contribute to the development of the Office of Inspections and Investigations' internal framework.
Requirements
  • University degree in Investigations, Law, Audit, Accounting, or a relevant discipline.
  • Training from a police academy or another law enforcement agency, with extensive experience in investigations, can be considered in lieu of a university degree.
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible, postgraduate professional experience related to investigations, intelligence gathering, or other relevant experience.
  • Previous experience working with the United Nations system or other international organizations is desirable.

  • Strategic Planning: Devising comprehensive plans for investigations, aligning with organizational goals and legal requirements.
  • Communication and cultural sensitivity: Coordinating effectively with local officials, governments, and external organizations to obtain necessary support.
Language Requirements

Written and oral proficiency in both French and English is a must for this position. Knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic, Spanish, Russian, or Chinese) or Portuguese is an advantage.
