About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research and Development Engineer to join our team at Abb Schweiz Ag. As a key member of our R&D Cluster Italy, you will play a crucial role in the development of new products and the maintenance of existing ones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the design of mechanical parts and assemblies of electromechanical devices and products, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Evaluate the technical feasibility of new products, aligning with product managers' requirements and supporting economic analysis.
  • Contribute to New Products Development Projects as a reference for R&D colleagues, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
  • Coordinate prototype construction, plan and analyze experimental tests, and adjust designs based on test results.
  • Prepare design calculations using standard and non-standard simulation tools, evaluating requests from production, quality, and engineering departments.
  • Propose product modifications and provide Bills of Materials for products.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience working as an R&D Engineer.
  • Basic or higher proficiency in CAD software Catia V5 or Creo.
  • Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink, Mechanical multibody simulations, and knowledge of statistical analysis, tolerance analysis, and lean 6s approach.
  • Ability to work in SAP environment for BOM-related tasks.
  • Result-oriented and personal ownership of tasks, with good communication skills and teamwork orientation.
  • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Physics.
