Job Summary

The Night Manager is responsible for overseeing all property operations during the overnight shift, ensuring the highest levels of hospitality and service are provided. This role represents property management in resolving guest or property-related situations, personally assisting in resolving issues and completing tasks.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; 5 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a related field.

OR

• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major; 3 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a related field.

Core Work Activities

Monitoring Property Operations

• Ensures compliance with all operational guidelines.

• Maintains adequate department supplies.

• Ensures employees are properly uniformed and groomed.

• Ensures a safe working environment.

• Manages period-end inventories.

• Directs, monitors, and assists overnight staff.

• Ensures guest tracking scores and employee opinion survey goals are achieved.

Supporting Profitability and Revenue Goals

• Reviews financial statements, sales, and activity reports to measure productivity and goal achievement.

• Assists in resolving guest issues received directly from guests or Guest Relations.

• Assists the accounts receivable clerk in all aspects of the job and keeps invoices due below 60 days.

• Monitors chargebacks and rebates.

• Ensures employees adhere to proper cash handling procedures and monitors overage/shortages.

• Manages employee hours.

• Works with the leadership team to identify and implement action plans to prevent guest issues.

Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities

• Promotes participation in property safety-related programs.

• Monitors employee attendance and records absences/tardiness.

• Promotes teamwork and employee morale.

• Ensures employees are trained on specific job aspects and aware of resources for problem-solving.

• Keeps employees informed about new operational procedures, standards, or programs.

• Ensures employees have complete knowledge of emergency procedures.

• Ensures constant communication between employees, supervisors, and management.

• Provides orientation for new employees and ensures all information is entered into the computer.

• Helps direct supervisors achieve their development goals.

• Encourages employee relations through gifts, parties, and outings.

• Creates incentives for better service and profit.

• Assists the operations manager in processing employee payroll weekly.

• Solicits employee feedback and reviews employee satisfaction results to identify and address employee problems or concerns.

• Ensures property policies are administered fairly and consistently, disciplinary procedures are completed according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs), and supports the Peer Review Process.

• Conducts annual performance appraisals with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
