This position is vital for the success of the RS business, aiming for significant improvements in tendering results and maximizing the return on investment in tendering activities. As a senior role, the Tender Management Specialist plays a crucial part in achieving sales and margin objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing tender costs to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Crafting solutions that align with customer needs while maintaining a competitive price point.
  • Guaranteeing that Alstom's margin expectations are met.
  • Delivering high-quality, actionable tender submissions.
  • Implementing opportunity capture strategies and win plans in tenders.
  • Producing successful proposals with a clear scope, precise commitments, and within the defined budget.

This role reports to the Head of Tendering and encompasses the management of all aspects related to the preparation of tender submissions, ensuring compliance with Alstom's global and local processes. The Tender Management Specialist collaborates closely with the Bid Director, resource owners, work package managers, support functions, and various Alstom units to create compelling and competitive tender submissions.

Candidate Profile

In this leadership position, candidates should possess extensive experience and a proven track record in the rail industry. Strong relationships and networks are essential, particularly in understanding the SS&I landscape and market channels. Experience with public sector procurement and familiarity with Network Rail and New Engineering Contract forms are highly desirable.

Effective customer relationship management is crucial for this role. Candidates must demonstrate substantial stakeholder management experience, confidence in presentations, and the ability to cultivate strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. While skills and experience are important, qualities such as dedication, motivation, and a passion for delivering results are equally valued.

Educational Background

A Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a Business-related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent professional experience, is required.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in bid management for large-scale, complex tenders.
  • Proficiency in project management and financial processes.
  • Demonstrated success in bid writing and developing winning proposals.
  • Strong numerical and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable presenting to business leaders and clients.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and commercial contracts related to signalling, systems, and infrastructure projects.

Desirable Skills and Experience
