About the Role

This position is part of the Research and Development (R&D) center at ABB Schweiz Ag, focusing on the design and development of electromechanical and electronic low-voltage protection devices and measurement devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Propose new designs for current sensors and electromechanical actuators, leveraging state-of-the-art knowledge and magnetic materials expertise.
  • Prepare design calculations using standard and non-standard calculation tools, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate technical assumptions, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in new product development projects, addressing specific electric problems and contributing to the Electrification, Smart Buildings division.
  • Coordinate prototype construction, plan and analyze experimental tests, and adjust designs as needed to achieve optimal solutions.
  • Support operation functions during production process implementation of new products or modifications to existing ones.
  • Design mechanical parts and assemblies of electromechanical devices and products, collaborating with the design team and adhering to specifications and product standards.
Requirements
  • Highly skilled in Matlab/Simulink, with knowledge of main PC tools and statistical analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of Lab equipment and CAE environment, such as Ansys and Maxwell.
  • Previous studies or experience in design and maintenance of electromechanical devices.
  • Enhanced knowledge of CAD tools (Catia, Creo,...) and digital skills.
  • Passionate about proactivity, curiosity, and motivation, with good communication skills and teamwork orientation.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • Proficient in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
