Organizational Setting: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Programme Officer to join our GEF Financial Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial management support to the GEF Unit, including cash management, monitoring and reporting, and guidance on financial management of GEF resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial management support to the GEF Unit, including cash management, monitoring and reporting.
  • Guide and capacity build the FAO-GEF community on financial management of GEF resources.
  • Develop and implement financial management policies and procedures for the GEF Unit.
  • Monitor and report on the financial performance of the GEF Unit.
  • Provide technical assistance to FAO staff on financial management of GEF resources.

Requirements:

  • Advanced university degree in business administration, public administration, international studies, economics, or a related field.
  • Three years of relevant experience in project or programme management, administration or related area.
  • Working knowledge (proficient - level C) of English and limited knowledge (intermediate - level B) of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
