Robotics Engineer for Research and Development

We are seeking a skilled Robotics Engineer for Research and Development to join our team at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT). The successful candidate will be part of the Humanoid Sensing and Perception research line, working on the CONVINCE project.
About the RoleThe primary responsibilities of this position include developing algorithms that enable robots to detect and localize objects and humans in their environment. This will involve creating software solutions for navigation in dynamic environments, taking into account human behavior. Additionally, the selected candidate will participate in field tests and experimental validation.
Requirements- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong motivation to work with real robotic systems
- Good knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Java, and Python
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Previous experience working on real robotic systems
- Knowledge of C++ and development tools (e.g., CMake and GIT)
- Knowledge of open-source robotics software, simulators (e.g., Gazebo), and middleware (e.g., ROS/ROS2/YARP)
- Knowledge of Deep Learning frameworks (e.g., pytorch or others)
- Knowledge of Robot Navigation frameworks (e.g., Nav2)
- Strong problem-solving attitude
- High motivation to learn
- Spirit of innovation and creativity
- Good time and priority management
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
- Competitive salary package for international standards: €60,000 - €80,000 per year
