Senior R&D Manager - Bakery Sector

We are seeking a Senior R&D Manager with expertise in Bakery products to drive innovation and product development within our R&D Country Team. This role involves close collaboration with the R&D Country Manager and the Sales & Marketing teams to deliver exceptional technical support tailored to customer needs. Your primary responsibilities will encompass product innovation, ingredient scouting, customer support, and mentoring the R&D SBU Bakery team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust relationships with clients, including collaborative visits with Key Accounts to promote a co-creation methodology.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Team to formulate and implement the R&D Bakery channel strategy, ensuring comprehensive technical support across all channels.
  • Lead and empower the local R&D SBU Bakery team to enhance their skills and achieve established objectives.
  • Facilitate effective collaboration between the R&D SBU Bakery team and other departments, such as Operations & Quality Assurance.
  • Ensure compliance with BRC certification for all relevant documentation within the Business Unit.
  • Investigate and evaluate the potential of new Bakery ingredients and technologies available in the market.
  • Manage the local R&D Bakery innovation pipeline, ensuring timely execution and consistent renewal.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for R&D Bakery initiatives.
  • Guarantee the precision of technical data related to Bakery products, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality regarding formulas and proprietary knowledge.
  • Utilize available digital tools for effective project and customer management.

Key Outcomes

  • Drive innovation in Bakery products and technologies, implementing local advancements.
  • Refine and enhance Bakery products by exploring new ingredients, alternative raw materials, and supplier options.
  • Oversee project management and recipe development processes.
  • Provide support to the Operations & Quality Assurance teams.
  • Establish performance benchmarks at both local and global levels.
  • Ensure high standards in Customer Technical Support from the SBU Bakery perspective.
  • Encourage active collaboration with the HQ Bakery R&D structure.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with academic institutions and research facilities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in R&D roles within food manufacturing companies.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align R&D Bakery strategies with business objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills across various organizational levels, fostering positive relationships and driving change through influence.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and collaborating with diverse cultures and styles.
