Job Description

Thales Alenia Space is a global leader in space manufacturing, delivering high-tech solutions for telecommunications, navigation, Earth Observation, environmental management, exploration, science, and orbital infrastructures. As a Category Buyer for Electrical Products and Multi-Functional Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in driving the company's success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with Thales Alenia Space's terms and conditions.
  • Analyze business needs and challenges, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Develop and implement category strategies, driving innovation and cost savings.
  • Manage the acquisition process, from RFIs to contract signature, ensuring fair competition and optimal solutions.
  • Contribute to global category strategies, anticipating market trends and monitoring innovation.
  • Lead a multi-functional team, driving collaboration and results.
  • Monitor and understand the supplier panel, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Anticipate relevant market trends and monitor innovations in the market.
  • Analyze business needs and challenges demand.
  • Maximize supplier relationships, creating a preferred customer relationship with strategic suppliers.
  • Ensure the purchasing contribution to TAS Road Maps and product tree for the assigned commodity.
  • Manage the competitiveness plan, leading and running product cost-down efforts with suppliers.
  • Lead and run co-development plateau with suppliers.
  • Manage generic PVETs process on relevant perimeter.
  • Negotiate price lists and frame agreements with suppliers at TAS JV level.
  • Manage co-development plateau with suppliers.
  • Provide competitive solutions for our products/projects based on the implementation of different suppliers/methods/technologies.
  • Contribute to acquisition plan through e-Acquisition tool.
  • During the execution of the program, ensure the maintenance of the contract and negotiate changes when they have an economic impact.
  • Contribute to SPA (Supplier Performance Assessment) led by Supplier Operations.
  • Support the preparation of Supplier Business Reviews and participate when requested by the SAM or the Segment Leader.
  • Organize SBR (Supplier Business Review) process, in coordination with relevant TAS and/or Thales SAM (Supplier Account Manager).
  • Ensure that the agreed T&C of Purchase include all statutory and internal rules and regulations, particularly on Export Control and Health, Safety & Environment, REACH, and Code of Ethics.
  • Collect all data and documentation related to issues of national and international regulations, including Export Control, Health Safety & Environment, REACH, and Italian Law 136.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a technical background (Engineering).
  • Procurement experience within an international context.
  • Experience in direct purchasing.
  • Experience in contract management.
  • Excellent relationship skills with project teams and with the various company structures.
  • Able to work in a global procurement environment and fluent in English.

  • Technical and commercial background gained in the companies or general knowledge in materials and processes and in the procurement of General Expenses.
  • Strong predisposition to teamwork and availability for short-term trips (2/3 days max).

  • Ability to manage changes in the context, tasks, and workloads.
  • Knowledge of the main regulations and certifications applicable in the space sector and special processes.
  • Experience in evaluating offers/proposals and KPI.
  • Supplier management.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office application systems.
