Site Operations Department
The Site Operations Department oversees the overall functionality of all mechanical and electrical systems, building maintenance, and the performance of all data modules within our facilities. Our team operates 24/7, staffed by Critical Facilities Engineers (CFEs) who are the primary point of contact for our clients, ensuring business continuity and operational excellence. Utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), the department is responsible for all preventive and corrective maintenance, fostering a culture that rewards teamwork and direct engagement with customers and facility infrastructure.
Position Overview
The Director of Site Operations is accountable for the comprehensive management of our data center campus and will lead a team of CFEs and/or managerial staff. This role will collaborate with Reliability Engineering, Design Engineering & Construction, and other departments to oversee campus operations. Responsibilities include managing workflow, training programs, event coordination, customer communication, recruitment, and performance evaluation of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operational and engineering functions at the facility, ensuring safe and effective machinery and building systems operation.
- Lead the site team to deliver a superior customer experience and operational excellence.
- Achieve and maintain availability and capacity targets for data centers and technical infrastructure.
- Promote a collaborative team environment through constructive feedback.
- Ensure accountability for preventive and corrective maintenance of facility equipment.
- Address customer concerns promptly and efficiently.
- Possess a thorough understanding of engineering and operational aspects of building systems to identify performance deficiencies and respond to emergencies.
- Ensure comprehensive training for all facility engineers and personnel on equipment maintenance and operations.
- Implement Vantage policies regarding safety, security, quality, and information systems.
- Contribute to crisis management documentation and process application.
- Collaborate with Vantage Operations at the country level on maintenance activities.
- Demonstrate best practices for smooth project implementation, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Over 10 years of experience in facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision.
- Extensive managerial experience with strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience in Data Center or Critical Infrastructure industries is preferred.
- Knowledge of physical security in critical environments is advantageous.
- Strong planning, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage change effectively.
- Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office 365.
- Fluency in Italian and English is required.
