Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and organized individual to oversee the day-to-day operations of our cafeteria. As a Food Service Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food items to students and school personnel, maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition, and providing excellent customer service.

This role reports directly to the Building Cafeteria Manager or Building Food Services Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure that food items are provided in accordance with cafeteria requirements by arranging setup for food items, supplies, serving lines, and/or equipment.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions by cleaning utensils, equipment, and the storage, food preparation, and serving areas.
  • Collect payments from students and staff for food items.
  • Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature to ensure it meets our high standards.
  • Inspect food items and supplies to verify quantity and specifications of orders and comply with health standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required, including inventory of commodities, food supplies, equipment, and health department requirements.
  • Protect personal information for staff and students by maintaining strict confidentiality on personnel and student issues.
  • Monitor students' food choices to meet mandated requirements and ensure adequate nutrition.
  • Oversee inventory of food, condiments, and supplies to ensure availability according to schedule.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverage items according to approved recipes to meet nutritional and health requirements.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, staff, and parents regarding meal options and prices.
  • Supervise assistants to maintain a quality workforce and ensure safe practices.
  • Verify quantity and quality of food prepared to maintain accurate records and ensure students have the proper amount of food.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Food Handlers/Serv Safe Certification by NRA within one year of hire.
Working Conditions

This position requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in a fast-paced environment.

Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $16.05-$20.90 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
