Job Overview

Serco, a leading Space Services Provider, offers space capability across the full lifecycle from satellite testing to launch services. We are seeking a System Application Operator to join our Copernicus Engineering Operations team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage service incidents and anomalies;
  • Analyze and troubleshoot system behavior and performance;
  • Generate and maintain operational procedures and work instructions;
  • Provide technical support for reviewing and preparing service documentation;
  • Participate in service evolution initiatives supporting prototyping and design;
  • Extract service statistics and generate operational reports and service performance reports;
  • Support updating web content (e.g., user guides, news publications, service web portals);
  • Support testing and verification activities;
  • Support configuration control and definition of network interfaces;
  • Support help desk operations for responding to operational engineering issues;
  • Interface with other groups (software development teams, infrastructure team, ESA Copernicus teams);
  • Participate in on-call shifts during extended working hours;

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field;
  • Good knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., RedHat);
  • Proficiency in Linux shell scripting;
  • Knowledge of Earth Observation satellite data product formats;
  • Knowledge of Satellite Ground Segments and related data flows;
  • Proactive problem-solving attitude and ability to approach challenges efficiently;
  • Ability to work in a team, sharing and acquiring knowledge effectively;
  • Experience with dashboards for monitoring and reporting (e.g., Grafana);
  • Familiarity with Docker for containerization;
  • Strong command of the English language (written and spoken);
