Join Our Team as an Underwriter

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team in Milan, Italy. As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of potential clients and ensuring that our payment services are secure and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate credit risk: Conduct thorough risk assessments of potential clients, analyzing financial statements, KYC documentation, and identifying potential risks of financial crime.
  • Verify KYC and KYB: Perform Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) checks, including identity verification, company certification, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Assess creditworthiness: Evaluate the creditworthiness of potential clients, considering factors such as financial stability, cash flow, payment history, guarantees, and sector trends.
  • Manage risk: Identify and mitigate potential risks, including acquiring risks, and work closely with commercial teams and clients to maximize onboarding opportunities and manage escalations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with compliance, risk, legal, and other teams to ensure that our payment services are secure and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop policies: Contribute to the development and documentation of policies and processes for the underwriting team, identifying areas for improvement and providing solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date: Stay informed about sector trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact our onboarding process or client profiles.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Proven experience in underwriting or credit risk roles within a financial institution, with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of the Italian market.
  • Education: University degree or equivalent experience in credit risk, underwriting, or a related field within the financial services sector in Italy.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of credit risk, financial crime, and AML regulations, including knowledge of payment schemes, sector regulations, and chargeback processes.
  • Skills: Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, decision-making, and multitasking skills, with the ability to articulate complex underwriting decisions to stakeholders.
  • Customer focus: A customer-centric approach, with the ability to balance risk management and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, focusing on continuous improvement and achieving shared goals.
  • Growth mindset: Motivation to grow and develop skills, with a passion for innovation and driving change in the payments sector.
  • Languages: Fluent in Italian and English.
