We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our laboratory and contribute to our research on the role of mitochondria in mechanotransduction and metabolism. Our team is interested in understanding how mechanical signals regulate key signaling processes and metabolic pathways, and how this knowledge can be used to develop novel therapeutic approaches to combat metastasis relapse.
About the LaboratoryOur laboratory, led by Prof. Sirio Dupont, is part of the Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of Padua. We have a strong focus on understanding the mechanical tissue microenvironment and its impact on cell metabolism and cancer development. Our research has led to several important discoveries, including the role of YAP/TAZ proteins in responding to mechanical cues and the importance of mitochondrial morphology in regulating metabolic and transcriptional responses to mechanical stimuli.
Research OpportunitiesWe have several ongoing projects that aim to characterize the mechanisms underlying mitochondrial mechanotransduction and its impact on cell metabolism and cancer development. These projects involve the use of mouse models, cell culture, and imaging techniques to study the role of mitochondria in responding to mechanical signals. We are seeking postdoctoral researchers with a strong background in cell culture, imaging, and molecular biology to contribute to these projects.
RequirementsTo be considered for these positions, applicants should have a PhD in biological, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical sciences. They should have a strong background in cell culture, imaging techniques, and basic molecular biology. Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are required. Previous experience in metabolism studies and/or a certificate in animal experimentation is a plus. Priority will be given to candidates with a proven record of scientific publications.
What We OfferWe offer a competitive three-year position with a one-year starting contract and a two-year extension already covered by available grants. The net salary is equivalent to that of an Italian entry-level Assistant Professor, and adequate to comfortably support a foreign worker in Italy. Fellows will be encouraged to apply for competitive National and International Fellowships, as well as to young investigators grants towards scientific independence.
