At Barilla Group, we are seeking a skilled Category Development Specialist to join our Customer Management team in Region Italy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing category plans designed to maximize the performance of assigned categories, in accordance with Barilla category strategy and defined budget.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the achievement of targets in terms of volume, turnover, and profitability of assigned categories and providing P&L forecast in line with assigned budget;
  • Defining and agreeing category plans, working on all retailing mix levers (pricing, assortment, innovation, promotional activities) in line with Trade Marketing guidelines and National/Local customer deals, negotiating directly with the customer for relevant categories;
  • Supporting the Customer Team Director in preparing the yearly National Agreement & T2T meetings;
  • Working with Local Key Accounts and District Managers to create plans for assigned categories that strengthen customer relationships and ensure plans' execution and implementation at national and regional level;
  • Ensuring the development and implementation of in-store category plans, collaborating with Field Sales Force;
  • Promoting category management and space allocation projects with customers, involving Trade Marketing;
  • Ensuring the execution of category-related projects and activities on the e-Commerce customer channel;
  • Providing category analysis with customer data and using insight data to develop category plans, identifying performance gaps and opportunities;
  • Identifying opportunities and facilitating agile cross-functional work on the category, unlocking barriers to efficiency.

Requirements include:

  • Degree qualified with 5+ years of sales experience, preferably within FMCG;
  • Successful negotiator, able to demonstrate the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships internally and externally;
  • Ability to deliver value to the customer and Barilla by introducing and building innovative plans and strategies;
  • Ability to adapt to and embrace change in a fast-paced environment and using own initiative to solve problems both for the customer and wider business;
  • Ability to interpret market and competitor data and to translate into business strategy;
  • Project management experience paired with strong analytical skills and an agile mindset;
  • Fluency in English and Italian.

This is a full-time permanent contract opportunity with a hybrid working arrangement, offering a mix of remote and office work. The successful candidate will report to the Customer Team Director and will be based in Parma.
