Senior Backend Software Engineer

The OpportunityWe're hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Client Innovation Area (CIA) Focus Area, Wellbeing Access team in Portugal. As a key member of the CIA Wellbeing Access Squad, you'll be focused on simplifying the employees' signup experience, making the process as seamless, secure, and stress-free as possible.
Responsibilities- Work within an agile talented engineering team;
- Help to define the architecture of systems and integrations, bring innovation to the table, and make sure design docs are up to date;
- Support existing systems looking to enhance functionality, increase scale, and transform in new ways to meet our product demands;
- Ensure successful deliveries, and promote the long-term technical health of our journeys;
- Write maintainable code and tests;
- Take part in incident resolution and troubleshooting in the production environment, as well as in writing useful and critical post-mortems;
- Help and mentor other developers
- Ensure high-quality code using best practices such as code review and pair programming.
- An engineer with a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience;
- Experience in designing and developing modern web applications;
- Proficient in one or more programming languages (Java/ Kotlin/ Golang). Golang and Kotlin will both be considered a plus;
- Being open to new experiences, willing to learn and grow;
- Willing to work within an agile environment meant to be continuously challenged and improved upon;
- Experienced in applying computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis;
- Experienced in working with SQL/NoSQL technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DynamoDB, understanding common use cases and performance pitfalls;
- A believer in automation (be it tests, CI/CD, or something else)
- Good communication skills both in English and Portuguese.
