Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Animal Health Assistant (Developmental) to join our team at the Air Force Institute Of Technology. As an Animal Health Assistant (Developmental), you will play a vital role in supporting the veterinarians and animal health professionals at our facility. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with daily animal care activities, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the health of animals. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed records of animal health and treatment. In addition, you will assist with laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis, and perform radiological procedures. Your strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with a team will be essential in this role. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and animal health professionals with daily animal care activities, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the health of animals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal health and treatment.
  • Assist with laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis.
  • Perform radiological procedures.
  • Develop and implement animal care plans in collaboration with veterinarians and animal health professionals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 6 months of experience in a veterinary medical setting, preferably with direct animal care experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess or have the ability to reactivate/obtain a registration, license, or certification as a veterinary assistant or higher through an accredited program.
  • Possess basic supply management experience, including ordering supplies, maintaining sufficient stock levels, and completing monthly inventory counts.

Work Environment

This position is located at the Aviano, Italy Veterinary Treatment Facility. The incumbent will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a team of veterinarians, animal health professionals, and other support staff.
