Job Purpose

  • The System Engineer plays a crucial role within the Project Engineering team.
  • This position involves developing system or subsystem architectures, defining and allocating requirements, evaluating design trade-offs, managing technical risks, and ensuring proper interface definitions, all while maintaining close coordination with verification, validation, and project deployment activities in alignment with the System/Subsystem Roadmap.
  • The System Engineer provides essential support to the System Engineering Manager (SEM) and Project Engineering Manager (PrEM) in addressing the technical requirements articulated by the Solution Director and specific user project needs.

  • Dotted reporting to PrEM during program/project execution

Key Collaborations

The role requires interaction with: System Engineers, Product Designers, Software Designers, System Application Architects (SAA), Project Architects, Verification & Validation (V&V), Safety, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM), Quality, and the Project Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

For System Engineering Activities:

  • Create system documentation, specifications, and other technical materials.
  • Implement system engineering processes effectively.
  • Ensure that the system meets defined requirements and enhancements, following a robust system engineering approach.
  • Maintain technical consistency and alignment with Project Engineering teams throughout development, providing technical support to V&V, and assisting with Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety Analysis.
  • Develop standard applications of the system for validation purposes and manage design feedback from the verification and validation team.
  • Aim to minimize system deployment costs, lead times, and risks through design.
  • Contribute to the definition and maintenance of System Baselines, analyze, and implement Change Requests.
  • Prepare for and participate in Design Reviews.
  • Support system configuration activities, requirement management, and data preparation for ERTMS and SCMT/SSC systems.
  • Ensure adherence to standardization by reusing existing solutions or implementing reusable solutions, providing an efficient system deployment kit (tools, user documentation, etc.) for generic systems/products.
  • Offer support to external stakeholders (Customers, Users, Tenders) and participate in Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) estimations.
  • Understand and apply TIS System Development processes while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Advise the SEM/PrEM on the recommended development path, outlining justifications for recommendations.
