About the Role

The Business Finance Manager plays a vital part in delivering strategic objectives that must be delivered for Shell to remain competitive.

This role leads the end-to-end responsibility for all Crewing and Manning Finance aspects, including financial and accounting procedures, management information, accounts payable/receivable, payroll requirements, and finance setup.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage 3 direct reports with ability to deliver results through others.
  • Ensure statutory reporting requirements are met for Shell Ship Management Ltd. and Shell International Shipping Services (Pte) Ltd.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including shore-based office staff and seafarer payroll transactions, cash flow management.
  • Develop and execute initiatives to streamline processes and enhance overall operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Lead the comprehensive and coordinated end-to-end service delivery in line with Shell's vision.
Accountabilities
  • Act as Deputy for the General Manager in their absence.
  • Ensure the fleet portfolio is provided with a financially robust and compliant crewing service on a 365/24/7 basis.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with legislation and regulations affecting the business.
  • Ensure compliance with monthly and annual reporting requirements.
  • Prepare all annual budget/planning in accordance with group and local requirements.
  • Liaise with group, Fleet Managers, and Local managers in respect of reporting requirements.
  • Provide support and recommendations for data analysis and system enhancements.
  • Maintain Master data records for AP, AR, cost control, and budgetary control.
  • Lead for treasury operations and group compliance.
  • Review procedures and working practices to ensure efficient methods are in use.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff in respect of SAP, HR, and payroll applications.
  • Liaise with external/internal auditors and third-party auditors.
Requirements
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills with relevant financial experience.
  • Desire to continuously improve business processes and outcomes.
  • Excellent finance functional skills, supporting business with forward thinking and ideas.
  • Recognised accountancy qualification or proven accounting experience.
  • Proven ability to coach, lead, and develop teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to manage multiple international stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven ability to deliver business/continuous improvement.
  • Ability to learn and develop deep understanding of external regulations governing the mobilising of seafarers.
  • Significant experience with stakeholder engagement and recognition of relationship management complexities.
