VEHICLE/WEAPON REGISTRATION ASSISTANT Livorno, Italy Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent provides guidance to the Registrar and Provost Marshal regarding licensing and customs clearance for privately owned vehicles (POVs) registered under U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As all registered POVs are processed through the Vehicle Processing Center, the incumbent maintains ongoing communication with the Provost Marshal and relevant garrison authorities to address various policy issues related to vehicle registration and clearance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administering the command-wide vehicle registration program, managing the registration of vehicles entering the command, and facilitating vehicle sales among command members.
  • Overseeing the entire registration process from the arrival of vehicles at port to the issuance of license plates, which involves advising personnel on necessary documentation such as applications, proof of ownership, customs permits, and insurance.
  • Evaluating the validity of submitted documents and certifying that individuals are entitled to tax-free privileges.
  • Interpreting and applying regulations related to vehicle registration, providing assistance and advice to command personnel.
  • Acting as a liaison with law enforcement and customs officials to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Conducting training for Military Police on vehicle registration processes and preparing standard operating procedures.
  • Managing the registration of weapons and ensuring compliance with registration requirements.
  • Collecting and verifying payments for registration fees and taxes, maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Preparing daily reports and documentation related to registration activities.

Note: The standard work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, including a one-hour unpaid lunch break.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualifications outlined in the General Schedule Qualification Standards published by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management:

  • Minimum of 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the U-06 grade level, demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary for this position.
  • Education may be substituted for experience in accordance with the General Schedule Qualification Standards.
  • A valid Italian driver's license type 'B' is required.
