Management of Earth Observation and Space Astronomy satellite data, including processing for both onboard and ground applications. Innovative solutions for Ground Segment Software in Mission Operations.The ongoing expansion of Planetek Italia's activities has created an opportunity for a new Space Operations Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will engage in Ground Segment activities, focusing on the design and implementation of Planetek Italia's advanced mission operations facility.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and develop specifications for the Mission Control subsystem (S/S); Define and update the architecture of the Mission Control S/S; Prepare development plans, test plans, and test procedures for the Mission Control S/S; Establish and maintain Mission Control procedures, including system and ground segment protocols and operational guides; Assist in the verification and validation of systems and ground segment activities, as well as in operational preparations.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience, particularly in Mission Operations. Key skills include:
Experience with ground segment facilities and operations; Expertise in Mission Control engineering, development, and operations; Proficiency in Mission Control software development, including configuration, test procedure preparation, execution, and reporting; Ability to define and implement verification and validation processes for spacecraft mission control systems; Fluency in English and Greek.Familiarity with the following is also beneficial:
ECSS and CCSDS standards for space-to-ground interfaces, Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS (Packet Utilization Standard); Satellite Mission Control Systems (e.g., SCOS-2000); Satellite configuration databases and SQL querying; Software and communications; Model-based engineering; Configuration management systems.The successful candidate will be characterized by professionalism, reliability, excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative spirit aimed at achieving defined objectives. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, along with a proactive approach, are essential.
