Financial Controller

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team at Belmond. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of our hotel operations, ensuring compliance with local regulations and Belmond policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Control
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee all sales, purchasing, salaries, and expenses to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with company policies.
  • Financial Policies: Implement and review financial policies to ensure they are up-to-date and aligned with company goals.
  • Audit Compliance: Ensure audit compliance, including actioning recommendations and liaising with internal stakeholders.
Financial Reporting
  • Financial Reporting: Produce monthly financial reports in accordance with GAAP principles.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, including long-term planning.
  • Monthly and Annual Reporting: Prepare and submit monthly and annual financial reports to senior management.
Financial Performance
  • Financial Monitoring: Monitor budgets and report major deviations from approved budgets.
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with the General Manager to implement financial controls, solutions, and action plans.
  • Financial Guidance: Provide financial guidance and counsel to the General Manager, HODs, and finance teams.
Treasury and Tax
  • Treasury Management: Manage the hotel's treasury, including cash planning and optimization.
  • Tax Compliance: Review changes in tax laws and accounting policies, assess their implications, and ensure the finance team implements necessary changes.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Relevant qualification or experience in accounting and finance.
  • Experience: Prior experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in luxury hotels.
  • Language Skills: Excellent communication skills in Italian and English.
  • Leadership Skills: Effective management, leadership, organization, communication, and presentation skills.
