Financial Controller
Belmond is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to oversee financial controls and procedures for the Hotel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in hospitality or luxury hotels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all sales, purchasing, salaries, and expenses
- Implement and review financial policies
- Audit compliance, including actioning recommendations and liaising with internal stakeholders
Financial Reporting:
- Produce monthly financial reports in accordance with GAAP
- Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, including long-term planning
- Prepare monthly and annual reports
Financial Performance:
- Monitor budgets and report major deviations from approved budgets
- Partner with the General Manager to implement controls, solutions, and action plans
- Assist the General Manager in establishing local policies, rules, internal controls, and safeguards to ensure profitability and control of operations
- Advise and counsel the General Manager, HODs, and finance teams on all financial matters
Treasury & Tax:
- Manage treasury, cash planning, and review the cash position to optimize the use of funds and minimize cash being held in the business
- Review changes in tax laws and accounting policies, assess their implications on the business, and ensure the finance team implements appropriate changes
Other:
- Support the financial function of new product openings
- Assist with accounting related to hotel or asset sales, product closures, and ownership changes
- Manage relations with third-party owners and/or partners
- Facilitate communication and reporting between the Belmond regional office in Milan
- Communicate relevant information to the Divisional Financial Controller and the General Manager
Requirements:
- Relevant qualification or experience in accounting and finance
- Prior experience as a Financial Controller or equivalent
- Experience in hospitality or luxury hotels
- Excellent communication skills in Italian and English
- Effective management, leadership, organization, communication, and presentation skills
