Position Overview

St. John's University is a distinguished institution committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. The Coordinator of Student Life and Social Media Manager plays a pivotal role in enhancing the student experience on the Rome campus.

Key Responsibilities

Programming & Events

  • Collaborate with the Director of Rome Programs to develop and execute a vibrant events calendar that integrates local culture with academic content.
  • Design and promote weekly excursions that immerse students in the rich history and culture of Rome.
  • Plan and lead regional trips throughout Italy, ensuring all logistical and educational aspects are meticulously organized.
  • Manage budgets for programs and excursions effectively.
  • Facilitate informal language learning opportunities for students.
  • Assist the Coordinator of Academics and Program Development in creating complementary events and excursions.

Service Activities

  • Oversee service events each semester, acting as the primary liaison with community partners.
  • Continuously seek new service partnerships to enhance student engagement.
  • Participate in service events alongside students as required.

Student Affairs Administration

  • Conduct comprehensive orientations for incoming students, outlining expectations and programming.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for student inquiries and concerns.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all students in accordance with established protocols.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call emergency response rotation, coordinating actions as necessary.

Communications

  • Update student materials, including handbooks and language resources, as needed.
  • Produce and distribute a weekly newsletter highlighting upcoming activities and cultural insights.
  • Manage and curate content for the Rome campus website and social media platforms.
  • Engage with social media interactions to promote participation in events.

Ozanam Scholars Program Management

  • Oversee the Ozanam program in Rome, including scheduling and liaising with service partners.
  • Collaborate with program administrators to meet service needs.
  • Regularly meet with Ozanam scholars to address any issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the study abroad sector.
  • Fluency in Italian and English.
  • Experience with educational systems in both Italy and the US is preferred.
  • Flexibility in work schedule is essential.

Work Environment

This role is situated in a professional office setting, requiring the use of standard office equipment. Occasional field trips and travel may be necessary.

Physical Demands

Minimal physical demands, primarily involving walking during field trips.
