This position is integral to fostering a vibrant community for students participating in study abroad programs.
Department: European Campuses
Reporting To: Director of Rome Programs
Key Responsibilities
Programming & Events
- Collaborate with the Director of Rome Programs to develop and execute an engaging events calendar that connects students with local culture and academic content.
- Design and promote weekly excursions in Rome, showcasing the city's rich history and cultural heritage.
- Plan and lead regional excursions throughout Italy, managing all logistical arrangements and educational components in partnership with the Director of Rome Programs.
- Oversee program and excursion budgets effectively.
- Organize informal language learning initiatives to enhance student engagement.
- Support the Coordinator of Academics and Program Development in creating complementary events and excursions.
Service Activities
- Manage service events each semester, acting as the primary liaison with community partners.
- Continuously seek new service partnership opportunities.
- Participate in service events alongside students as necessary.
Student Affairs Administration
- Conduct comprehensive orientations for incoming students, detailing expectations and programming.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for student inquiries and concerns.
- Ensure the health, safety, and overall well-being of students in accordance with established protocols.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call emergency response rotation, coordinating responses as needed.
Communications
- Update student materials, including handbooks and language resources, as required.
- Produce and distribute a weekly newsletter highlighting upcoming activities and cultural insights.
- Manage and curate content for the university's website and social media platforms related to the Rome campus.
- Engage with social media interactions to promote participation in events and foster a sense of community.
Ozanam Scholars Program Management
- Oversee the Ozanam program in Rome, creating a service schedule for scholars.
- Act as the primary liaison with service partners for the program.
- Collaborate with administrators in New York to meet the service needs of the program.
- Regularly meet with Ozanam scholars to address any issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 1-2 years of experience in the study abroad sector.
- Fluency in Italian and English, with a flexible work schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in the study abroad sector.
- Familiarity with educational systems in both Italy and the United States.
Work Environment
This role is situated in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment. Occasional travel within Italy and to other campuses may be required.
Physical Demands
Minimal physical demands, primarily involving walking during field trips and site visits.
