Position Overview

Spencer Stuart is seeking a Finance Manager for Italy who will collaborate closely with office leadership and the corporate finance team to support various aspects of financial operations and business evaluation. This role encompasses general accounting responsibilities, financial reporting, and acting as a strategic partner to the local Office Manager to foster the growth of the Italian office.

Additionally, this position includes oversight for Ireland as Finance Director, managing a few million turnover office with comprehensive finance responsibilities. Occasional travel to Ireland will be necessary, approximately 2 to 3 times annually.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including accruals and prepayments
  • Generate accurate monthly and quarterly financial reports for the office
  • Engage in budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Analyze and assess financial and business data to derive actionable insights
  • Participate in various finance and office-related projects as required
  • Oversee the finance function, including monthly financial close, budgeting, forecasting, year-end closing, statutory and tax audits, and cash management
  • Challenge assumptions for decision-making and provide financial analysis and guidance on all activities
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Financial Center in Poland, which manages transactional tasks such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and expense reimbursements to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Optimize internal procedures and processes for functional efficiency

The Finance Manager for Italy is a highly driven individual with exceptional attention to detail. This candidate demonstrates the ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic professional environment. Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to collaboration with various departments, colleagues, and clients are essential.

Ideal Experience

Educational Background:

Bachelor's degree in Economics or Accounting is required.

Experience:

5 - 7 years of experience in a financial accounting role within an international service company, Big 4, or law firm is preferred but not mandatory.

Proven knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP is a significant advantage.

Understanding of key performance drivers and KPIs, with the ability to explain variances against budget/forecast related to underlying business activities.

Language Proficiency:

Fluency in Italian and English is required.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Workday is preferred
