Key ResponsibilitiesProblem Solving:Maintain a high level of system reliability by prioritising and resolving trouble tickets efficientlyServe as an escalation point and technical troubleshooter for all systems and issuesDeep dive into Linux server issues and XEN service virtualization troubleshootingTechnical:Troubleshoot technical issues on various platforms ranging from systems through to power/mechanical platformsRemediate physical layer outages and both systems & network outagesRemediate or recover physical power issues on racks and participate in data centre power & cooling eventsOperations:Meet 24x7 on‑call requirements and respond during shift rotationsInstall and configure racks of hosts in line with internal SLAsTriage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices in the region and act as the data centre point of contact for all high severity issuesPhysically replace server and network device parts, ensure correct rotation of parts & spares, contribute ideas to improve operational efficiencyHelp define metrics to increase customer uptime and enforce Amazon’s security best practicesInteract with third‑party vendors and contractorsProject Management:Participate in and deliver on high‑impact small to mid‑scale projectsAttend team meetings for metric analysis and project status updatesHelp build the world’s largest cloud infrastructureHiring & Mentoring:Contribute towards building a great team by participating in the hiring process and candidate interviewsShare knowledge and help educate less technical staff on the best practices related to all service owner issuesAdditional Physical and Security Requirements:Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 20 kg; work in cramped spaces or elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelinesCover 24x7 shift rotationHold or attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see Qualifications1+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repairing experiencePreferred QualificationsWork a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidaysWork a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidaysAcknowledgement of country: In the spirit of reconciliation Amazon acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
