OverviewThe CMT Data Platform and Analytics Team leads pricing analytics to optimize Amazon products' price perception and competitiveness. We seek a Senior BI Engineer to strengthen our data-driven decision-making processes. This position combines strategic planning with direct implementation. The role requires analytical capabilities, experience with business intelligence solutions, and the ability to collaborate across CMT product teams. The BI Engineer will own complex reporting systems, develop automated solutions, and deliver actionable insights to drive business decisions. The role involves navigating complex pricing programs independently, designing and implementing scalable BI solutions, partnering with CMT and Retail teams to optimize reporting systems, and transforming data into clear, actionable recommendations. This role directly impacts our pricing strategy and market positioning. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently in Amazon’s fast-paced environment and quickly absorb the nuances of varied pricing programs. Location: Rome, Italy.Key responsibilitiesWork with multiple CMT business, product/program teams to understand business drivers, data availability and product challenges. This includes data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, and problem solving.Assist in developing key product metrics and performance indicators to measure overall performance and product contributions to the business.Build self-service reporting platforms and establish automated processes for large-scale data analysis.Understand and write high-quality queries to retrieve and analyze data (ongoing reporting and ad hoc requests).Manage the data infrastructure for the CMT central analytics team, deciding which data sources to leverage and coordinating with teams to ensure data is consistent and accurate.Own end-to-end data architecture for new product launches.Basic Qualifications8+ years of professional or military experience5+ years of SQL experienceExperience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data setsExperience with design of experiments and statistical analysis of resultsExperience with AWS technologiesExperience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skillsExperience with information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining conceptsPreferred QualificationsExperience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needsExperience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadershipBachelor's Degree or EquivalentOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
