For our client, an Italian multinational company in the Transport Sector, we are looking for the:

Chief Information Officer (CIO) – Copenhagen

Purpose

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) will be responsible for leading the company's IT and OT strategy, ensuring that the Strategic Vision and yearly Master Plan are effectively implemented across all IT departments. The role will promote a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and security, aligning technology initiatives with business objectives and regulatory compliance.

This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the company's digital transformation journey and to pursue a career path within the Group Headquarters in Italy.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the IT strategy in close collaboration with the Executive Management team.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the Strategic Vision and Yearly Master Plan across all IT departments.
  • Coordinate best practices, interface management, and foster a unified leadership culture across IT teams.
  • Identify and implement digital transformation initiatives that generate measurable business value.
  • Optimize the allocation of central IT resources and drive efficiency improvements.
  • Lead IT and OT functions, aligning technology vision with business goals, driving innovation, and overseeing IT/OT policies, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
  • Ensure IT security and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Monitor and optimize technical systems, IT operations, and service performance.
  • Manage the IT budget and oversee technological investments.
  • Monitor IT KPIs and define action plans when necessary.
  • Participate in the development of the Group IT roadmap.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and partners to deliver value-adding digital and infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide strategic leadership and people management within a multicultural and multilingual environment.
  • Oversee
    overall
    compliance with company policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in IT strategic leadership, preferably within
    transportation or utilities/energy sectors.
  • Proven experience in IT/OT management, architectural development, and digital transformation programs.
  • Solid technical expertise in IT architecture, enterprise networking, cloud computing, and advanced cybersecurity.
  • Experience with ERP systems, data management platforms, and automation technologies.
  • Strong understanding of IT operations and system integration in mission-critical environments.
  • Experience working with institutional stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English (mandatory); Danish and Italian are considered an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of safety management principles and related management systems.
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership, familiarity with emerging technologies, and budget management capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiation and partnership management skills.
