Spacecraft Operations Manager m/f Ref. SOM_2026

In the frame of the IRIDE Mission, OHB-I will operate its Eaglet-2 constellation (8+ satellites) throughout the whole operational life cycle.

We are seeking an experienced Spacecraft Operations Manager to support the operations preparation and execution.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Lead the Spacecraft Operations Team and coordinate all operational activities.
  • Serve as the primary interface to Mission Management and external stakeholders.
  • Approve operational strategies, planning schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Oversee anomaly resolution, contingency procedures, and mission recovery.
  • Chair regular Operations Coordination Meetings and Readiness Reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards and mission documentation (e.g., Operations Concept, Flight Rules, Procedures).
  • Manage staff scheduling, shift rotations, and on-call rosters.
  • Provide quarterly and end-of-phase performance reports.
  • Understand the mission objectives and the Spacecraft (S/C) design.
  • Authoring and validation of Flight Operations Procedures and Ground Operations Procedures.
  • Identify S/C anomalies, and support throughout the whole anomaly troubleshooting cycle.
  • Support to System Validation Test (SVT) Plan and Procedure
  • Support to System Operations Validation (SOV) Plan and Procedures
  • Support to Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) Plan and Procedures
  • Support to Commissioning Plan and Procedures
  • Support to Flight Operations Plan
  • Execution of SVT, SOV test campaigns.
  • Execution of LEOP.
  • Execution of Platform and Payload Commissioning.
  • Participation to operations execution, including shift work and regular on-call.
  • On-call 24/7 during critical mission phases (launch, commissioning) and Routine.

Skills and Experience

  • A Master degree (or equivalent), preferably in the fields of Aerospace/Space Engineering, Physics or Mathematics.
  • Experience in S/C Monitoring and Mission Control Systems.
  • Previous experience as SOM is highly valued
  • Experience in Spacecraft operations preparation (FOP/GOP generation/validation)
  • Experience in Anomaly resolution.
  • Solid knowledge of Satellite Operations.
  • Knowledge of Database Manipulation and data analysis is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Ground Segment architecture and interfaces is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Mission Planning Systems is a plus
  • Knowledge on Satellite Flight dynamics (nice to have).
  • Experience with interfacing with Satellite supplier.
  • Knowledge of basic programming (Linux shell scripting, Java, Python, MATLAB are preferred languages).
  • Knowledge of Unix based OS MS Windows and Office Suite.
  • Full professional proficiency in the English language is mandatory.

Additional Assets

  • Knowledge of CCSDS Packet Utilization Standard (PUS) rev. A and C.
  • Knowledge of Procedure Language for Users in Test and Operations (PLUTO)
  • Knowledge of SCOS2000 Database Import ICD.
  • Knowledge of Space Link Extension (SLE) protocol.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing and Operations Information System (MOIS) tool suite (nice to have).
  • Knowledge of ECSS-E-ST-70C (nice to have).
  • Ability to work independently as well as good communication skills.
