Automation, Navigation and Control Engineer

The selected candidate will report directly to the Head of R&D and will be involved in the design, modelling and validation of dynamic systems for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV/UUV), contributing to vehicle development, testing and performance optimisation.
Location: La Spezia, Italy (on-site presence required)
Key Responsibilities:
System and mission requirements analysis;
Modelling and simulation of dynamic systems for autonomous underwater vehicles:
Testing, validation and performance verification activities;
Experimental data analysis and vehicle performance optimisation;
Support innovation and development activities for assigned components;
Collaboration with multidisciplinary R&D teams.
Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Aerospace Engineering;
Experience with vehicle simulation tools (including driving simulators);
Familiarity with virtual simulation environments and experimental testing;
Good knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink;
Programming skills in C, C++ and Python (experience with Raspberry Pi is a plus);
Strong technical project management skills and problem-solving mindset.
Personal Skills:
Ability to adapt and work effectively under pressure;
Team-oriented attitude;
High level of autonomy and initiative;
Good decision-making skills.
