JOB TITLE: Cloud Platform Services Specialist
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Consultant

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Reporting directly to the Platform Services Lead and under the general supervision and guidance of
the Chief of TECM and the Head of Infrastructure Services, the Cloud Platform Services Specialist
implements and manages modern application hosting solutions, in the Cloud and hybrid.
The position will implement and managed application hosting solutions that are fully compliant with
WFP standards and IT Security principles, providing direction, instruction and guidance to IT Solution
Architects, Application Developers and Project Managers throughout the entire lifecycle of an
application.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design the infrastructure architecture of IT solutions, and support the Application Developers
throughout the lifecycle of a solution;

• Contribute to the administration and maintenance of modern hosting platforms for corporate
applications and services, both on the Cloud and hybrid;

• Present IT Services to the Architectural Board for endorsement as corporate services;

• Provide guidance to IT Solution Architects, internal and external Application Developers, and Project
Managers on Cloud hosting solutions;

• Be a focal point for Cloud Platforms governance and compliance;

• Be a focal point for the implementation of DevOps methodologies and service automation;

• Key contributor, for TECM, in the architecture, maintenance and support of the hosting
infrastructure of SCOPE, WFP's Beneficiary Information Management application;

• Define quality assurance metrics for Cloud and hybrid infrastructures;

• Provide high level of expertise to IT Security, Networking, and Development teams, maintaining an
open collaboration attitude;

• Monitor hosting costs and provide expert advice in order to reduce IT total cost of ownership, both
on the Cloud and hybrid;

• Knowledge Management and SOP: ensure documentation on installation and implementation
procedures and other related matters are in order; compile guidelines to be shared with all
stakeholders and users;

• Other duties as required.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
Incumbent will be expected to successfully design, administer, and support multiple Cloud and hybrid
hosting solutions, and to contribute to increase WFP's stance towards cloud adoption.
Incumbent will be expected to be a focal point for cloud-based hosting, DevSecOps practices, and
Cloud Platforms governance and compliance.
Provide 2nd and 3rd level application and hosting maintenance and support.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
• Degree in the field of Computer Science/Engineering or Information Systems
or other related disciplines;
Experience:
• At least 5 years practical hands-on IT experience in a 24x7 mission critical
environment supporting production applications and/or administration of
enterprise IT services (Cloud and On-Premises), preferably in large
international organizations.
Knowledge
& Skills:

• Experience in Cloud services and technologies;

• Experience in DevOps methodologies;

• Linux Operating System and scripting;

• Knowledge of modern Web Application Servers;

• Robust knowledge of all aspects of IT Security, with a strong focus on Data
Encryption mechanisms;

• Strong knowledge of database technologies (Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, MS
SQL) and messaging queuing technologies (i.e. RabbitMQ);

• Strong knowledge of virtualization engines (VMWare, Hyper-V) and
containerization (Docker, Kubernetes);

• Knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies and principles;

• Proven ability to automate and standardize processes;

• Good interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and directed, able to work effectively
with little or no guidance;

• Keen attention to detail, problem-solving and task prioritization abilities;

• Positive attitude for working in cooperation with different teams and ability to
work under pressure. Excellent customer service orientation;

• Ability to produce detailed documentation and operational guidelines;

• Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or GCP is required.
Languages:
• Fluency in oral and written English. Intermediate knowledge of another official
UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese
(one of WFP's working languages) is desirable
