Application Engineer MES
40 hours per week, hybrid in Venlo (NL)

What You'll Do

As an Application Engineer MES, you play a key role in developing systems that control new production lines and in maintaining and renewing existing MES platforms. You collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to translate business and process needs into innovative, scalable solutions. Your expertise makes you a valuable discussion partner and a driving force behind the design, implementation, and continuity of MES applications. Your key responsibilities are:

• Design and implement MES applications based on the Siemens Opcenter platform.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, System Architects, and Production Engineering to define system specifications
• Coordinate stakeholder expectations and deliver final solutions that meet business need
• Translate customer and process requirements into forward-thinking designs within the established application architecture
• Ensure continuity of existing MES systems by resolving disruptions, handling user inquiries, and implementing functional change
• Lead projects involving external IT service providers, managing progress, quality, and budget
• Act as the first point of contact for MES-related issues and change requests
• Develop and implement solutions based on customer needs and system requirements
• Contribute to the evolution of team methodologies and best practices
• Set up and maintain robust development and automated test environments

Who you'll work with

You'll be working closely with your direct colleagues within your own team as well as with colleagues from other ICS departments. Besides this your most important stakeholders are Production engineers, Operators and Team coaches.

What you'll bring

We're seeking an ambitious and studious IT support professional eager to grow into a specialist role within MES. You combine technical expertise with a proactive mindset and a strong sense of ownership. You thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy working closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. Furthermore, you meet the following job requirements:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Technical Computing or Industrial Automation
• Around 5 years of experience with MES systems—preferably Opcenter CR EX—within production automation; experience in the manufacturing industry is a plus
• Solid knowledge of ISA-88 and ISA-95 standards
• Hands-on experience with .NET and XML, including application design, development, and maintenance
• Familiarity with SQL databases, Microsoft SSRS/SSIS/SSAS, and Power BI (considered a plus)
• Exposure to Agile project management, especially Scrum
• Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English, written and spoken
