About the institute


Human Technopole (HT) is an interdisciplinary life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian government, with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health.

HT has the mission of conducting cutting-edge research and to translate innovation into methods and tools available to the entire National scientific community.

To this end, HT is opening National Facilities that will provide world-class research infrastructure in the areas of Structural Biology, Light Imaging Microscopy, Genomics, Genome Engineering, and Data Handling and Analysis, aimed at the Italian scientific community as well as internal HT research groups.


The National Facility for Data Handling and Analysis (NF-DaHa) will perform in-depth analysis of biological data using state-of-the-art computational methods for bioinformatics and image processing.


NFDHA comprises three Infrastructural Units (IU):

  • IU1 Bioimage Analysis
  • IU2 Omics Analysis


 IU3 Technology Development
  • DevOps and Web Development


The IU2 is currently expanding its core team with highly motivated people who will help shape the future of scientific research in Italy, establishing high-quality standards, and delivering state-of-the-art analysis services.

We are now looking for a
Scientific Project Manager, reporting directly to the Head of the National Facility for Data Handling and Analysis, who will provide high-level scientific coordination, oversight, and planning for the research projects undertaken by the facility.


Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Supporting the management of scientific projects: handling communications with facility users, managing internal and external project deadlines, tracking outputs, writing summaries and reports, collecting and archiving documents and data.
  • Managing the flow of studies, data, and documentation, including liaising across the relevant offices of the collaborating institutions.
  • Handling strategic collaborations with external stakeholders such as national and international consortia and organizations (e.g. CoreForLife, Elixir).
  • Coordination of training and documentation activities.
  • Supporting the communication activities of the DaHA NF.

Essential requirements

  • Experience in managing complex research projects in a highlevel life sciences setting.
  • Master's degree in a scientific discipline.
  • Fluency both in English and Italian;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and office managing tools.

Preferred requirements

  • Familiarity with the most common short
- and long-read sequencing platforms.

  • Familiarity with the most common analysis methods for NGS data and the applicable computational tools.
  • PhD degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in organization and execution of planning activities.
  • Experience with onboarding and training new staff.

Organizational and social skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with other team members and work synergistically to drive projects forward
  • Ability to interact effectively with the researchers involved in assigned projects, eliciting detailed descriptions of project goals, timelines and requirements to derive precise technical requirements and timeline estimations for projects completion.
  • Ability to manage internal and external confidential information with utmost discretion.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural, multiethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
  • Excellent organizational and timemanagement skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fastpaced environment.
