**Full time 35 hours per week**

**Purpose of the role**

The purpose of this role is to implement the Business Development and go-to-market regional strategies for the schools sector, in particular launching the new British Council test for young learners and driving growth for Aptis Teens and other relevant products.
This is a locally focused role based in Italy which sits within the Global Assessments Business Development team. It will report to the Global Business Development Manager and work in tandem with the local regional teams to identify and pursue opportunities that create value in the K12 English language proficiency assessment segment. The work of this post will be fully in-line with global and regional commercial plans and strategies and will cooperate closely with regional and country teams.
The role will have a sales focus to ensure we meet KPI’s and targets through B2B sales. It will do this by directly engaging with high-level government and school officials and therefore direct account management with leaders is a key aspect of this role. Responsibilities will therefore include identifying opportunities, building and managing demand, and establishing and nurturing commercial relationships with school networks to deliver income and surplus targets.

**Main Accountabilities**

**Account & stakeholder management**
- Implement pursuit strategy for British Council School exams, including the roll out of the new Young Learners test, by leading pursuit of identified business opportunities within defined timeframe, targets and budget.
- Business Pursuit, RO influencing, networking and key account relationships plan and delivery which is in line with regional strategies
- Build and maintain direct, trust-based relationships with senior stakeholders in government and schools, as well as local assessment practitioners, partners and opinion-leaders, to support the regional strategy, secure business and win recognition for our products.
- Analyses clients’ needs and tailors value propositions with expert support where needed.
- Oversees quality of customer experience on the ground, reviewing with Operations Manager and feeding into reporting.

**Commercial planning, analysis, and reporting**
- Provide feedback on go-to-market strategies with relevant global and regional teams
- Provides updates on B2B/Sales forecast, actively manages pipeline and drives demand in year and for the following year.
- Provide financial monitoring, narrative reporting, and reforecasting.
- Delivers on income and margin surplus targets, ensuring new and existing business is operationally feasible and commercially sound working with Finance input/support.

**Communication and leadership**
- Identifies and shares examples of process/procedural best practice with colleagues in the country/region to drive continuous improvement in key account management and stakeholders.
- Provide consultation to local and regional teams on the YL and Aptis Teens tests to ensure their knowledge of the product suite.

**Role Specific Knowledge and experience**

**Essential**
- Experience of successful external sales or stakeholder relations
- Demonstrable ability to sustain and/or grow a product/service in line with specific strategies and targets
- Experience with aligning client/stakeholder needs and feedback to products/services

**Desiderable**
- Knowledge of English assessment
- Experience within the education technology industry, ideally including computer-based testing
- Experience within the K12 segment, particularly in Italy
