The **European University Institute** (EUI) at a glance:

The Institute also hosts the Historical Archives of the European Union.

The **Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS)** is an inter-disciplinary research centre at the

heart of the European University Institute (EUI). It was established in 1992 to complement the four EUI

disciplinary departments (Economics, History and Civilization, Law, Political and Social Sciences) with the aim

to be involved in both basic and policy research, collaborate with other centres of excellence in Europe,

provide opportunities for young scholars and promote dialogue with the world of practice. The Centre’s goal is

to maintain an environment and support structure that fosters intellectual curiosity and excellent research. The

research agenda of the Centre is currently guided by three major themes: Integration, Governance and

Democracy; Regulating Markets and Governing Money; and 21st Century World Politics and Europe.

**Contract type **Full-time (30/30, 40 hours/week)

**Length of contract **12 months, start date 1 January 2024

This contract may be further renewed (several times and conditional to the
availability of funds), leading to an extension of the period of service up to a total of
5 years, including the first contract period.

The basic net monthly salary after taxes is approximately 2,810 Euro, plus

allowances if applicable.

**About the project**

**Project Director(s) **Professor Juan Montero and RSCAS Director Erik Jones

**Project details **The **Transport Area of the Florence School of Regulation (FSR Transport)** at

the European University Institute’s Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies
is dedicated to policy dialogue, policy-relevant research, training, and networking
in the area of transport regulation in Europe. It is concerned with the regulation of
all modes of transport and a wide range of other topics related to digital and
sustainable mobility.

**Job description **The research assistant will provide support to the FSR Transport Project
Directors. Main tasks include:

- Drafting and editing research outputs, such as briefs, reports, and

workshop summaries;
- Developing networks and communication channels with key stakeholders

of FSR Transport;
- Contributing to the scientific organisation of workshops, and liaising the

RSC Conference Unit taking care of event logistics;
- Performing analytical and research tasks in the area of transport

regulation; and
- Providing further assistance and performing additional tasks as required.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Qualifications and Essential**:
**Experience**
- Master’s degree in a field relevant to the position;
- Proven analytical, writing and communication skills;
- Demonstrated knowledge of EU policy, and a willingness to learn about

transport and network industries;
- Strong organisational skills and ability to set and meet deadlines gathered

through previous experience;
- Proven ability to work in a team and to take initiative.

**Desirable**:

- Previous experience in the area of transport/digitalisation/network

industries.

**Languages **Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written (CEFR level: C1 or
above). Knowledge of other languages constitutes an advantage.
