**Who we are
The **European University Institute** (EUI) at a glance:

- an **international organisation** set up in 1972;
- a research university focusing exclusively on **postgraduate**, **doctoral** and **post-doctoral studies**, and

The Institute also hosts the Historical Archives of the European Union.

The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) is an inter-disciplinary research centre at the heart

of the European University Institute (EUI). It was established in 1992 to complement the four EUI disciplinary

departments (Economics, History and Civilization, Law, Political and Social Sciences) with the aim to be involved

in both basic and policy research, collaborate with other centres of excellence in Europe, provide opportunities

for young scholars and promote dialogue with the world of practice. The Centre’s goal is to maintain an

environment and support structure that fosters intellectual curiosity and excellent research. The research agenda

of the Centre is currently guided by three major themes: Integration, Governance and Democracy; Regulating

Markets and Governing Money; and 21st Century World Politics and Europe.

**Contract type **Part-time 80% (24/30, 32 hours/week)

**Length of contract **Start date: 16.06.2024 or as soon as possible until 31.11.2024

This contract may be further renewed (several times and conditional to the
availability of funds), leading to an extension of the period of service up to a total of
5 years, including the first contract period.

The basic net monthly salary after taxes is approximately 2,350 Euro, plus
allowances if applicable.

**About the project**

**Project Director **Prof. Bernard Hoekman

**Project details **Security, Values and Trade: Supply Chain De-risking and Due Diligence

This project will characterise and evaluate the approaches being taken in major
jurisdictions to assess supply chain risks, focusing on legislative changes, methods
to assess risks, the actors involved and the policy instruments that are considered
reduce security risks. Of particular interest is to assess whether and how
international spillover effects are considered. The focus is on selected major OECD
member countries because they are at the forefront of initiatives to identify and
attenuate supply chain risks, motivated by security considerations and other
noneconomic goals such as protection of human rights, social inclusion, and the
environment. The project will improve our understanding of the institutional
frameworks and processes used by different jurisdictions to evaluate supply chain
risks, good practices, and incentives for international cooperation.

**Job description **The research assistant will provide research assistance to the Director of the
project.

Main tasks include:

- Documenting and analysing institutional frameworks for supply chain risk

assessment in sample countries;_ _
- Undertaking reviews of the literature;_ _
- Assisting in organising meetings, interviews and an academic workshop;
- Working with the Project Director in drafting papers._ _

**Qualifications and experience**

**Qualifications and Essential**:
**Experience**
- Master’s degree in International Politics and/or Economics;
- Strong organisational and communication skills acquired through previous
experience;
- Demonstrated experience in drafting reports and undertaking research.

**Desirable**:

- Proven experience in working in an international organisation;***
- Demonstrated experience in conducting interviews and designing of

questionnaires.

**Languages **Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written (CEFR level: C1 or
above). Knowledge of other languages constitutes an advantage.
